Dr. Kahente Horn-Miller, Associate Vice President of Indigenous Teaching, Learning and Research for Carleton University, will present 'We are Her and She is Us - Sky Woman's Story' for the 10th edition of the Living Library series. Indigenous Education and the Libraries and Learning Commons are partnering to bring this presentation to the Niagara College community. Dr. Horn-Miller's performance piece - a modern telling of the Haudenosaunee story of creation that centres on Sky Woman and her fall to earth - will help our college community better understand Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing through a matriarch led Indigenous perspective.

She is an active member of her community who describes herself as a figurative bridge builder. She continues to examine topics such as Indigenous methodologies, Indigenous women, identity politics, colonization, Indigenous governance, and consensus-based decision making in a way that makes Indigenous traditions relevant today.

In 2018, she began the Collaborative Indigenous Learning Bundles Project that are increasingly being incorporated in Carleton courses as a way to bring Indigenous knowledge into the classroom. The bundles have since been expanded to professional development for faculty and staff. She has also served as a co-chair of the Carleton University Strategic Indigenous Initiatives Committee where Carleton University has been presented with their own 41 Calls to Action.
